Our lab is interested in molecular signaling pathways involved in breast cancer tumorigenesis and metastasis.
Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women world-wide as well as in Turkey. Breast cancer comprehends a collection of tumor types with different histologies, genetic variations, expression profiles, and clinical outcomes, which makes it a complex disease. In spite of the improvements in early diagnosis due to regular mammography screens and current therapeutic approaches including surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormone therapies and targeted therapies breast cancer is still the leading cause of cancer deaths in women mainly due to metastasis. A better understanding of the molecular events involved in the complexity of the disease and metastasis is required to develop better treatments. We aim to unravel the complex molecular signaling mechanisms of breast cancer to contribute to future diagnosis and therapy approaches.
